Production Paint Manager

Mature leader needed to manage fast paced PAINT SHOP of plastic parts. Must be a strong team leader with problem solving skills that can take direction from management and follow through to keep work flowing within our Air Conditioned state of the art paint shop with five booths and oven.

Job Responsibilities:

Responsible for meeting all production schedule deadlines and to provide direction and training to paint shop employees on the proper painting and prepping techniques required for each component. Ability to analyze and improve on paint and labor costs while keeping in line with production. Able to use manual HVLP paint equipment, paint components in accordance with OEM specifications, and knowledge of a multi component paint systems with ability to mix proportions manually and automatically. 5+ years experience in a production/Industrial environment required. Must be flexible with the ability to change roles as business necessitates. Color matching and hydro film application knowledge a major plus, but not required.

Work with Purchasing to ensure proper inventory of paint and other related materials are on hand and are maintained to ensure production needs are met, includes filters, spare parts etc. Work with maintenance department to ensure ovens and paint equipment is properly serviced and maintained. Work with EHS to track air permit record-keeping, hazardous waste, EPA 6H, industrial hygiene and all OSHA standards that apply to the Paint Shop. Maintain a clean and safe working environment. Also instrumental in training paint personnel in all EHS procedures.

Requirements:

  • Gun and booth start up and preventative maintenance knowledge
  • Microsoft office and an MRP system with BOM’s, manufacturing instructions.
  • Directs and coordinates all activities concerned with HVLP Painting and assembly.
  • Manage behavior of people under your responsibility and support their continuous professional development.
  • Ensure allocation of the right people to the activities providing smooth production flow.
  • Ensure that all materials and manpower are available when needed.
  • Provide input for and assist in evaluating potential events that can impact schedule and or performance.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Previous manufacturing and supervisory or Lead experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Previous HVLP paint experience
  • Ability to work flexible hours

  • Able to build, motivate, train, and manage teams.
  • Able to coach and develop employee’s talent.
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Ability to manage and deal with last minute schedule, delivery, and process changes
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of OSHA, EPA, & other regulations related to managing paint shop environment.

The individual will be expected to maintain a safe and clean work environment, contributes to team effort and be able to work and communicate with diverse backgrounds. Positive CAN-DO attitude a must. Extra hours may be required at times as business requires. Work schedule is 40 hours a week.
